Can A Jogging Stroller Replace A Gym Membership?

Sunday, June 7th, 2009

Thousands of parents across the country are taking the jogging stroller down from the rafters this spring. More and more of these parents are looking forward to the opportunity of taking the kids for a jog. Not just because of the quality time spent with them, but also for the fresh air and the fitness benefits.

Of course, jogging while pushing the children is not able to provide you with the full body workout that an hour at the fitness center can potentially provide, but with more families keeping a tighter grip on their finances, many are finding that they can commit to a summer fitness plan without paying for a gym membership by purchasing a jogging stroller… and in most cases that purchase costs less than one month’s gym membership.

Jogging strollers can range in price from as low as $30 for a used one to several hundred dollars for high end models. One tip to scoring a great find on a jogging stroller is to purchase a used. Unfortunately, these items dont generally make it past the first half hour of a neighborhood rummage sale, so locating a nice stroller at a bargain price can be a little difficult.

StrollerWarehouse.com added a used stroller marketplace earlier in 2009 that does provide a great service to anyone considering buying one. With millions of parents in the United States selling used items online, there are literally thousands of used strollers available for sale… and you don’t have to settle for the bright purple one… unless that’s what you choose.

Take a moment to consider this scenario:

1. Young couple buys a jogging stroller

2. Takes it out 10 times on a local bike path

3. Puts it away for the winter and the following spring they realize their kids are too big for it, or that they now need a double stroller

4. Puts the stroller for sale online (because believe it or not… not everybody gets excited by neighboorhood garage sales)

5. You score a sweet used jogging stroller for $25 with $10 shipping, and the stroller tires still have those little “spikes of newness

So do I think that a jogging stroller is able to replace a fitness center membership? I personally couldn’t use it to replace my membership to the gym, but it does make for a nice warm up on the way to the gym and refreshing cool down on the way home,

Baby Jogging Stroller

Friday, June 5th, 2009

The Baby Jogging Stroller allows you to take care of the baby and jog at the same time. You can’t use the baby as an excuse to keep you from jogging. The baby jogging stroller, also called the running stroller, is designed to allow a parent to run and push the stroller at the same time.

Before you rush out and buy one though, the manufacturers recommend that the baby be at least six months old. This helps a new mother get outdoors with the baby and exercise at the same time to get back in shape. It allows the parents to spend quality time with the baby, bit still looking after their own fitness needs.

These strollers are really becoming big sellers because of the ease of use and the all terrain features. You are no longer confined to walking the baby in the park or on the sidewalk.

With these running strollers you can jog along the trails and even go up over hills with ease. The baby is strapped in and the two large wheels, similar to a bicycle help keep the stroller balanced as you are joging along.

Most baby joggin strollers have a canopy to protect the baby from the elements of the weather. The center of gravity is located in the rear wheel, so the stroller is easier to turn.

There is a lot of storage capacity, so you can store the diaper bag, extra clothes for you and baby as well as a snack or water bottles. As well the fabric is removable and machine

You can now go jogging, walking or       power walking with all your daily activities without worrying about what the little one is up to. Your child can sit in comfort in the jogging stroller while you top up on your exercise. Exercise is a great way to not only stay fit and healthy but to also boost your confidence, general well being and give you more energy. Using jogger strollers can help you tackle the day with more energy and you don’t even need to go out of your way to do it. If you can’t get out to the park every day you can use your jogger stroller to run to the corner shop, run to town, jog to school or power walk down to see close family and friends.

The special all-terrain use strollers make it easy for you to take your little one out to the park or on long hikes with ease. Pavement, grass or soil you can take your jogger stroller with you anywhere you want to go. With front suspension and large wheels these strollers are perfect for outdoor use.

You may wish to take your jogger stroller out for a few practice runs first around the block before you use them in the park or on a busy high street. This will allow you to become more familiar with your jogging stroller and the way it moves. This will ensure you can stop, start and turn exactly when you need to as you become more used to the handling of your particular stroller. Although a jogging stroller is quite different from the conventional stroller, it should not take too long for you to get used to its handling.
